Hi. My name is Chris Wohlwend. I follow Jesus Christ. I don’t mean I keep tabs on him. I mean that I live my life for him because I’ve given my life to him.
Maybe you’ve wondered about what it is like to follow Jesus. (the title ‘Christ’ is our “sort of” English word from the Greek meaning “anointed one of God.”) Jesus came from heaven to earth two millenia ago to introduce what God is like in a face-to-face way. If you want to know how God thinks or behaves we can read about his interactions with people. Jesus called himself the Son of God. He said to those who were following Him, “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father (God).” He also said, “Whatever the Father does, the Son also does in like manner.” Seems strange to our ears but there it is. As far as my life is concerned, I’m listening to what the Son said, learning what God is like, and attempting to live in a way that makes him happy.
I’ve created this place and space to tell people what I’ve learned about following Jesus.Because I think that if Jesus said something and is still speaking, I want and need to be listening.Because Jesus helped me sort out my life and helps me every day to keep it sorted.Because God wants the whole world of persons to know what he is like and to teach people that He can be known by them in a very personal way by knowing Jesus. I want to share in his desire to help others know about him.
I don’t have a mission. I don’t have a goal. I have time. I have a passion for the things of God. I can type. I like the things God has made. I like his solutions for life’s problems. I like his promises. I like his promises toward me. I like his promises toward my future. I like his wisdom. I like his strength. I like his love. I like his example. Most of all, I like that he can be known in very deep ways. I like that he wants to be known.
I have a family. I have six grown kids, some married, some not. I’m separated from my wife. That broke my heart. My heart feels better now. I have a couple of degrees in theology. I have been a Christian church pastor for more than 30 years. I’ve been truck a driver, delivery driver, dishwasher, piano teacher in the in-between times. I’ve owned homes and I’ve lost a home…yuck! I’ve been out of debt once or maybe twice in my life if I think hard enough. I’m 57. I currently pastor an assisted living and memory care facility on the central coast of California. Hobbies? I like cooking. I freelance at children’s music. I doodle on keyboards. I like old western movies and crime dramas.
